Philanthropic Partnerships Associate

This position is full-time and requires a minimum of two days per week onsite for those residing in the Bay Area.

Position Purpose:

The Philanthropic Partnerships Associate will provide operational, research, marketing, project management, and administrative support to the Philanthropic Partnerships (P2) department to inspire, engage, facilitate, and manage clients and their needs. The P2 Associate will have the opportunity to navigate a dynamic and collaborative team environment, taking on a diverse set of projects, tasks and responsibilities. An ideal candidate possesses proficient writing skills, an in-depth understanding of the nonprofit sector and how to best activate donors.  

 

Reports to:

The Philanthropic Partnerships Associate reports to the Vice President for Philanthropic Services.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Serve as the administrative engine of P2 in conjunction with the Philanthropic Planning Assistant. Provides administrative support and thought partnership to P2 Senior Leadership. Tasks include event planning, leading and executing special projects, responding to and triaging inquiries.  
  • Provide administrative support to select key clients as assigned, including donors, family office staff, and financial advisors. Donor support includes providing technical assistance with the client portal, entering grant recommendations, creating grantmaking reports, analyzing grantmaking and gift trends, supporting RFPs, and facilitating communication between clients and their grantees.
  • Manage requests from non-profit organizations seeking funding through MCF’s donor-advised funds. Lead the development of systems and processes to drive greater efficiency, connection between donors/nonprofits and impact.  
  • Conduct and distill research information into client-facing briefings for a range of research topics including issue areas on local, national, and global nonprofits. Research will entail web research, analysis of client grantmaking data and, at times, outreach to nonprofits and seminar/workshop attendance.  
  • Provide insight and support to inform the implementation of organization-wide systems migrations and new tools that will impact the P2 Department. Knowledge of the following systems are a plus:Sage ERP Software, Salesforce Agentforce for Nonprofit, Microsoft SharePoint and Asana Project Management.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications team to develop and distribute marketing collateral and media to support donor engagement strategy, such as donor newsletter, event invitationsand collaborative fund promotion.
  • Collaborate across the organization to set up, activate, and maintain collaborative funds. This includes creating and sharing reports, ongoing process improvement and gift monitoring, editing and distributing marketing materials, and providing administrative support.
  • Brainstorm, support, and execute staff engagement and culture activities to work toward team cohesiveness, improved morale and values alignment.  
  • Represent P2 in internal & external meetings and trainings.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as delegated. 

 

Knowledge, Skills, Experience:

  • A minimum of five years of work experience as described in the essential functions of the job description.  
  • Advanced writing, editing, and proofreading skills coupled with research and synthesizing abilities.  
  • Demonstrate meticulous attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and precision in all aspects of work.  
  • Demonstrate excellent organizational and prioritization skills, efficiently managing daily tasks, multiple requests, and projects, while handling long-term assignments.
  • Demonstrate a passion and deep commitment to Philanthropy and knowledge of the nonprofit sector.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to thrive in a team environment.
  • Capable of cultivating and sustaining positive working relationships with MCF staff, donors, members of the nonprofit sector, community members, and colleagues in other foundations.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills encompassing listening, interpersonal, oral, presentation, and written abilities for multiple and diverse audiences.
  • Ability to effectively learn and utilize additional technology systems used by MCF and support transition to new systems. Acquire appropriate Salesforce certifications.  Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point).
  • Self-starter with an interest and ability for both independent and collaborative teamwork.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • This is a full-time, exempt position with generous health benefits (including medical, vision and dental), 403(b) retirement plan with an employer contribution of 12%, life and disability insurance, and generous time off and other benefits. 
    — Salary Range: $95,000 to $105,000
    — Location: This a hybrid position requiring a minimum of two days per week onsite.
