The Issue
The inability to speak English impacts the employability and civic engagement of immigrants in their local community, affecting parents’ level of engagement in their children’s schools and creating an inability to access better jobs and wages.
Our Approach
There simply aren’t sufficient resources for ESL services in Marin County. We see an opportunity to support quality and consistent ESL and literacy programs to the county’s most vulnerable and otherwise hardest to reach low-income immigrants. We will support critical programs that provide ESL courses, and help develop stronger alignment between ESL providers, public schools, post-secondary institutions, and employers.
**Please note: MCF is no longer accepting proposals for this program.**
