Community Grants: Senior Services

Goal
: To support the development of an organized, efficient system serving the County’s rapidly growing aging population

Overview: In Marin, the growth rate of our older population is the fastest in the state. By 2010, one in four adults in Marin will be over 65. In addition, this population is not as wealthy as the County at large, with nearly one third of seniors reliant upon Social Security. Elders are important assets to our communities, and keeping older adults engaged in community life is mutually beneficial for seniors and the County’s entire population.

Under this goal, MCF will support projects that incorporate the following strategies:

Strategy 1: Support organizations that serve seniors so they can coordinate their programs more effectively, with a focus on reaching out to seniors most in need of such services

Strategy 2: Promote healthy, independent living for seniors by influencing public policy and educating the public about the needs of seniors

Process: Register with the Grant Application Center starting September 1, 2008, which is the Registration Open Date for this goal. This system enables you to complete and submit all application materials online.

Once you have registered, please complete and submit a Letter of Intent (LOI), even if you have received funding from MCF in the past for this kind of work.

If your LOI is approved, you will be notified how to prepare and submit a full proposal, also using the Grant Application Center.

Deadline for LOI: October 10, 2008
