MCF Announces Annual Awards for Community Service and Giving Back

May 15, 2008—MCF has named Legal Aid of Marin and Cesar Lagleva, a social worker with the County’s Department of Health and Human Services, as recipients of its Beryl H. Buck Awards for Achievement. It has also named Belvedere residents John and Betsy Scarborough as the recipients of its award recognizing local philanthropists, called the MCF Leaders in Giving Award.


MCF Trustees Select Two New Board Members

April 2, 2008—The Board of Trustees of the Marin Community Foundation has selected Maria D. Ramos-Chertok, Esq., a community volunteer and organizational development consultant, and Robert J. Reynolds, a long-time volunteer in local and international nonprofit organizations, to be Trustees of the Foundation.


MCF Grants $450,000 for First Habitat for Humanity Homes in Marin County

February 14, 2008—To help build the first Habitat for Humanity homes in Marin County, the Marin Community Foundation (MCF) has made a grant of $450,000 to support the construction of four affordable single-family homes in the unincorporated area of Strawberry.


Survey on Giving and Volunteering in Marin Shows Both Strong Overall Growth and Great Potential Among Newer, Younger Residents

January 22, 2008—A new survey on giving and volunteering in Marin County, a follow-up to one conducted seven years ago, shows an across-the-board surge in volunteering and a strong desire by new, young residents to become involved in supporting local nonprofits.


MCF's Stinson/Bolinas Fund Awards Over $20,000 in Grants

MCF Awards $14.5 Million to Local Nonprofits and Schools

June 12, 2007—The Board of Trustees of the Marin Community Foundation (MCF) voted last week to award $14.5 million in grants to a range of nonprofit groups and schools in Marin, making it the single largest distribution in the Foundation’s twenty-year history.
