The purpose of the Human Needs program is to promote the health and well being of all members of the community, and to improve the lives of those who live with physical, mental, and social problems.
Goals:
- Access to Health and Social Services: To support efforts to improve access to health, mental health, and social service programs.
Emphasis: Leveraging community resources to assure access to preventive and primary care and necessary support services for individuals and families in need.
- Independent Living: To encourage efforts that allow individuals with illness or disability to maintain maximum functioning and independence.
Emphasis: Assisting those who are disabled by age, physical challenges, and other condi-tions to live independently in the community.
- Preventive Programs: To support activities that help prevent the development of health and social problems.
Emphasis: Preventing or reducing conditions that place youth at risk.
- Community Education: To inform public policy and develop better programs for involving all community members in promoting their own health and the well being of their families and community.
Emphasis: Assisting communities to advocate for appropriate health and social service programs.
Limitations: The Foundation does not fund grants to individuals, payments for direct services, or projects designed primarily for research purposes.
